
Hardimon Tabbed to Wuerffel Trophy Watch List

The defensive back is recognized for his impact on the Wake Forest campus and Winston-Salem community.
FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. - Wake Forest redshirt junior defensive back Tyriq Hardimon was tabbed to the 2021 Wuerffel Trophy Watch List, as announced by the National College Football Awards Association on Thursday morning
The honor is annually awarded to football student-athletes who serve others, celebrate their positive impact on society and inspire greater service in the world. This marks the second consecutive year a Demon Deacon has been selected to the watch list as Sage Surratt also received the honor in 2020.
During his time in Winston-Salem, Hardimon has played a key role on the gridiron, campus and community.
Hardimon has played in 22 games at defensive back and special teams over the last three seasons, all of which ended in Wake Forest bowl appearances.
Facing No. 1 Clemson in the opening week of the 2020 season, Hardimon recorded a season-high four tackles and a pass breakup. The Marietta, Ga. native also contributed two solo tackles and pass breakup in the victory over Campbell.
He has been equally impactful for the Wake Forest campus and Winston-Salem community off the field. He is a member of SAAC and an active member of the Outreach Committee.
Additionally, he participated in all career readiness opportunities, getting noticed by employers at career night and getting two summer internships while going to class and workouts. Haridmon also took a lead role in our Student-Athlete forum on processing racial injustice.
During the pandemic, Hardimon has also helped distribute COVID-19 care packets to members of the Wake Forest and Winston-Salem communities.
He hopes to get his masters in sustainability at Wake Forest with a long-term goal of being a versatile businessman, who knows the economy and how to make it more sustainable.
An up to date list of nominees can be found at www.wuerffeltrophy.org beginning on August 1. Semifinalists for the award will be announced on November 2 before finalists will be announced on November 22.
The 2021 winner will be announced on December 9 and will be presented with the 2021 Wuerffel Trophy in February 2022 in Fort Walton Beach, Fla.
