Wake Forest Hosts No. 17 South Carolina in Final Exhibition Thursday

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Wake Forest will host its final exhibition Thursday night, as the Demon Deacons are set to host the No. 17 South Carolina Gamecocks. 
 
Thursday's match, which includes free admission to all fans, is slated for 6 p.m. at Spry Stadium. Gates will open one hour prior to kickoff at 5 p.m.
 
DRAW IT OUT
Wake Forest opened its preseason exhibition schedule with a 2-2 draw with the No. 7 Clemson Tigers Monday night at Spry Stadium.
 
Freshman midfielder Olivia Duvall opened the scoring for Wake Forest with an assist coming from junior Ashley Frank. The Alexandria, Va., native broke through in the 55th minute.
 
Down 2-1, Wake Forest evened things up in the 75th minute, as Sophie Faircloth dribbled past a Clemson defender to lay it off to a wide-open Sofia Rossi who buried it in the back of the net.

FAN INFORMATION
Thursday's match is free to all fans as The Best Fan Experience in North Carolina awaits the entire Winston-Salem community on Thursday evening. 
 
A number of new fan experience enhancements are planned for the 2021 season. This includes expanded food and beverage options, including availability on Walt Chyzowich Alumni Hill, an enhanced in-game experience, featuring an expanded video board production with additional cameras, replay, and fan-engaging elements, as well as new immersive experiences to promote the unique culture that is known around professional and collegiate soccer.

TICKET INFORMATION
While all exhibition matches are free and seating will be general admission, fans will have the opportunity to select and purchase season tickets on Thursday evening for new reserved chair back seating at Spry Stadium.
 
General admission season tickets will also be on sale for Walt Chyzowich Alumni Hill and Spry Stadium.

SCOUTING SOUTH CAROLINA
The Gamecocks, under the direction of Shelley Smith, are coming off an 11-5 COVID-affected campaign that covered both the fall of 2020 and the spring of 2021. Carolina finished last season ranked 22nd in the United Soccer Coaches poll after reaching the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
 
The Gamecocks are one of five SEC schools ranked among the nation's top-25, according to the United Soccer Coaches.
 
UP NEXT
Wake Forest opens the regular season Thursday, Aug. 19 at 7 p.m. with a home non-conference matchup against UIC.
