Wake Forest Hosts High Point Sunday on ACC Network

The Deacs will look to extend its record to 2-0 in non-conference play on Sunday

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest will continue its homestand on Sunday, hosting High Point in a 7 p.m. contest at Spry Stadium. The game will be broadcasted on ACC Network.
 
This is the third meeting between the two programs, Wake Forest leads 2-0 in the series. Both teams enter the season having played one game. The Deacs battled Horizon League opponent UIC to a 1-0 win on Aug. 19, while High Point tied UNCG, 0-0.
 
FOLLOW LIVE
Sunday's contest will be streamed live on ACC Network, available online and through the ESPN app. Live stats will also be provided via Statbroadcast.
 
PROMOTIONS 
For fans planning to attend, note that Wake Forest will have giveaways at the gate and will be giving out free women's soccer posters while supplies last.

SMART PLAYS CLUTCH 
Shayla Smart tallied the game-winning score as the Demon Deacons earned their 300th program win with a 1-0 shutout victory over UIC Thursday night in the home opener at Spry Stadium.
 
After a scoreless opening half, the winning tally came in the 84th minute as Smart collected the ball after a Jenna Menta assist where she turned and launched the ball to the bottom right corner. It was the fourth career goal for Smart and the first of the 2021 campaign.
 
NEW YEAR, NEW TEAM 
The Deacs return 20 letterwinners from last year's squad, highlighted by Ryanne BrownGiovanna DeMarcoSofia Rossi and ACC All-Freshman Team member Sophie Faircloth.
 
Wake Forest welcomes a signing class of 16 that was rated No. 37 in the country and No. 7 in the ACC by TopDrawerSoccer.com. The Deacs added 15 true freshmen and one graduate transfer - Jenna Menta from Georgetown - that look to make an immediate impact this season.
 
FAN INFORMATION
A number of new fan experience enhancements are available for the 2021 season. This includes expanded food and beverage options, including availability on Walt Chyzowich Alumni Hill. 
 
Additionally, there will be an enhanced in-game experience, featuring an expanded video board production with additional cameras, replay and fan-engaging elements, as well as new immersive experiences to promote the unique culture that is known around the soccer world.

SCOUTING HIGH POINT
High Point opened the season with a 0-0 tie to UNCG. HPU was picked as the preseason favorites in the 2021 Big South Conference Preseason Fall Women's Soccer Poll for the second consecutive season.
 
Sam Gerhart was named the 2021 Big South Preseason Offensive Player of the year.
