Three Demon Deacons Set to Represent Wake Forest on International Stage

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - For the first time in program history, Wake Forest women's golf will have three representatives at the Curtis Cup, on both the United States side and the Great Britain and Ireland (GBI) side.
"What an honor for Wake Forest and for these three young ladies to represent their countries," said head coach Kim Lewellen. "They have each worked tremendously hard for this opportunity. We are always so proud of our team and of the way they represent the Old Gold and Black. Everyone is excited to see what they do in Wales in a few weeks."
A member of the 2021 Wake Forest graduating class, Emilia Migliaccio has been selected to her first Curtis Cup team. Rising junior Rachel Kuehn has been selected alongside her former teammate as they both will represent the United States. Lauren Walsh, also a rising junior for the Deacs, has been selected to represent her home country of Ireland on the GBI side of competition.
"My biggest motivation to play well in the U.S. Am last week was to make the Curtis Cup team. It's a dream I've had ever since I was a freshman in college and I am so excited to finally make that dream a reality," said Migliaccio.
This is not the first time all three Deacs will represent their countries and compete against each other on an international stage. Back in June, Migliaccio, Kuehn and Walsh all competed in the Arnold Palmer Cup.
The three young ladies join an elite group of Wake Forest alum as Curtis Cup participants. Most recently, current LPGA member Jennifer Kupcho represented the United States in the 2018 competition. Rachel Kuehn also continues to pave her own path in the black and gold while also following her mother, Brenda Corrie Kuehn, who was selected to two Curtis Cup teams during her All-American career at Wake Forest.
"It is an honor and amazing opportunity to be selected for the Curtis Cup team," said Kuehn. It's every athlete's dream to represent their country and to do so on the biggest stage in amateur golf is truly humbling. Every hour I have worked has led to this moment and I'm so excited to be able to compete in Wales alongside seven other amazing players."
The 2021 Curtis Cup will be played August 26-28 at the Conwy Golf Club in Conwy, Wales. Originally scheduled for June 12-14, 2020, the event had to be rescheduled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Team USA is the reigning champion, winning the event in 2018 when Kupcho participated.
