WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Wake Forest opened its preseason exhibition schedule with a 2-2 draw with the No. 7 Clemson Tigers Monday night at Spry Stadium.
"It was a good test against a NCAA Quarterfinals team last year," head coach Tony da Luz said after the match. "They have a lot of upperclassmen on their team and so I thought our young team did a really good job. I thought there were a lot of positives but we still have a lot to learn."
Freshman midfielder Olivia Duvall opened the scoring for Wake Forest with an assist coming from junior Ashley Frank. The Alexandria, Va., native broke through in the 55th minute on a ball in the box.
Down 2-1, Wake Forest created an opportunity in the 75th minute, as Sophie Faircloth dribbled past a Clemson defender to lay it off to a wide-open Sofia Rossi who buried it in the back of the net.
