Brennan Finishes as Top Demon Deacon at Maridoe Collegiate

Wake Forest returns home for its first home tournament of the season in 10 days when it hosts the third annual Old Town Club Collegiate Invitational.
CARROLLTON, Texas -- The Wake Forest men's golf team completed their first tournament of the season Wednesday at the Maridoe Collegiate Invitational in Carrollton, Texas.
The Demon Deacons, who finished 10th in the tournament, were led by a strong opening week from sophomore Michael Brennan.
Brennan, who captured two individual titles in his first two collegiate events a season ago, placed inside of the top 30 this week. Additionally, he was the top Demon Deacon on the leaderboard after every round of the tournament, finishing tied for 29th.
Mark Power carded the low round of the day for the Deacs on Wednesday. His final round 71 (-1) was his lowest of the week by five strokes and helped see him elevate 18 spots on the leaderboard. The 2020 All-American ended his tournament just one stroke back of Brennan in a tie for 34th.
Alex Fitzpatrick also finished inside of the top 40 while freshman Scotty Kennon tied for 41st in his first collegiate event for the Deacs.

"All of our guys didn't have their best golf this week. Maridoe is a very tough golf course and it punished aspects of our games this week. We will take this difficult week as a learning experience and will be better as a result! I'm proud of their efforts and willingness to improve. Next Up
The Demon Deacons travel home for their first of two home tournaments this season. Wake Forest is back on the course on Monday, Sept. 27 and Tuesday, Sept. 28 at the third annual Old Town Club Collegiate Invitational.
The top-100 course in the nation has hosted a number of prestigious tournaments in its time including the 1949 Southern Conference Championship and 1954 ACC Championship, both won by Wake Forest great Arnold Palmer.
Wake Forest fans can attend the event for free both days with tee times for both days scheduled to start at 7:30 a.m.
