Emma Soderstrom Caps Off Hokie Invite with High Jump Title

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Demon Deacon freshman Emma Soderstrom earned a first place finish in the high jump to highlight the weekend of the Hokie Invitational.
Soderstrom leaped 1.79 meters (5-10.5) on the final jump to pick her first podium spot and join the Wake Forest all-time performance list at tied with Nyki Caldwell 1.79m (5-10.5) at No. 2.
Sophomore Thomas Kitchell finished the weekend with a fourth place finish in the men's shot put with a 18.25m mark. On the other side, the women were led by Chanel Dawson who claimed a 6th place spot with a 14.71m toss, followed by Isbella Gera in 7th place with a 14.38m.
Friday's toss from sophomore Andrew White in the weight throw (20.40m) placed him second all-time in program history, passing Wake Forest Hall of Famer Andy Bloom's mark.
Jack Dailey, Emma Soderstrom, Hana Catsimanes, Caroline Garrett, Andrew White, Jacob Goldberg, and Mason Ellis picked up personal bests.
Following this weekend's meet, the Demon Deacons are slated to compete at the Razorback Invite and Bob Pollock Invite, on Jan. 28-29.
