Wake Forest Splits Decisions in Sunday Matches

The Demon Deacons went toe-to-toe with No. 22 Tennessee before securing their first victory of the season against Davidson.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Wake Forest women's tennis (1-1) split decisions in Sunday's home action at the Wake Forest Tennis Center, dropping a tightly-contested 4-3 contest to No. 22 Tennessee before defeating Davidson 7-0 in the second half of the day's doubleheader.
The day got started with Wake Forest picking up the doubles point against Tennessee, as the pairings of No. 15 Samantha Martinelli/Casie Wooten (6-4) and Peyton Pesavento/Saby Nihalani (6-4) clinched their matches in back-to-back results. It also marked the fourth doubles victory in as many appearances so far this season for Pesavento and Nihalani this season.
In singles, Carolyn Campana (6-1, 2-6, 6-3) picked up a ranked win over No. 41 Tenika McGiffin while Anna Brylin also claimed a victory before the Demon Deacons narrowly suffered a defeat.
In the afternoon match against Davidson, the Demon Deacons secured a 7-0 victory, taking the doubles point before Wooten solidified Wake Forest's first win of the season.
