WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's basketball team will continue its three-game homestand on Saturday afternoon against Syracuse inside Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
The Demon Deacons (12-3, 2-2) are coming off a convincing 76-54 victory over Florida State in which the team held the Seminoles to a paltry 24.2 percent from the field - the sixth-best opponent field goal percentage mark in program history.
Jake LaRavia led the Deacs in scoring for the third-straight game, finishing with 22 points, seven rebounds, and five assists. Since returning from a two-game absence last week at Louisville, the Indianapolis native is averaging 18.7 points, 7.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists on 57.6 percent shooting.
Alondes Williams followed close behind LaRavia, finishing with 20 points, six rebounds and four assists. Williams continues to be the only player in the country currently averaging 20 points (20.1), five rebounds (6.3), and five assists (5.1).
Khadim Sy had a standout game against the Seminoles, as the graduate forward picked up his first career double-double with 16 points and 10 boards.
Wake Forest currently ranks 29th in the country in field goal percentage (48.3) and 32nd in the country in points per game (80.2). Both marks are second-best in the ACC.
The Orange (7-7, 1-2) head to Winston-Salem on a two-game losing streak following an 88-87 defeat to Miami on Wednesday in Coral Gables. Jim Boeheim's squad ranks 23rd in the country in 3-point field goal percentage, at 38.6 percent, as well as second in the ACC in made triples per game at 9.2.
