Todd Earns Back-to-Back ACC Defensive Player of the Week Honors

The freshman goalie earns honors for the second-straight week after posting a trio of wins during Wake Forest’s perfect 3-0 week.
GREENSBORO, N.C. – For the second-straight week, Wake Forest field hockey freshman goalkeeper Ellie Todd was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league Tuesday afternoon.
Todd earned a trio of wins during Wake Forest's perfect week against Davidson, No. 7 Louisville and VCU, notching seven stops while allowing just two goals in 180 minutes of action in goal.
The Boston, Mass. native was instrumental in Wake Forest's ACC victory over the nationally-ranked Cardinals as Todd posted her third shutout of the season, making five defensive stops in the Demon Deacons' first top-10 win since 2018.
Overall, Todd has made 37 defensive stops in 12 starts this year.
The Deacs have now given up less than two goals in its last seven-matches, dating back to its 1-0 shutout victory against Ohio State in Columbus on Sept. 18.
Overall, the Deacs have held opponents to two goals or less in 12 matches this season and have won 10 of its last 11 matches.
Todd is the second Demon Deacon to earn ACC Player of the Week honors after Meike Lanckohr was named the conference's Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 13 after tallying a team-high 12 points (five goals and two assists) during Wake Forest's West Coast sweep.
The Deacs open its regular season-ending four-match road trip next weekend at No. 6 Virginia (Friday, Oct. 14) and No. 17 James Madison (Sunday, Oct. 16).
Friday's ACC contest in Charlottesville can be streamed on ACC Network Extra, while the non-conference clash against the Dukes can be seen live on ESPN+ with a paid subscription.
