Deacons Win Draws in Singles and Doubles at Hosted Carolina Regionals

It was a successful few days in DEACTOWN!
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. β Monday (Oct. 17) saw the 2022 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Carolina Regionals officially wrap up at the Wake Forest tennis complex, with the Demon Deacons having collected some hardware through its hosted event.
Senior Maddie Lynch cruised her way to a title win in the B2 Singles flight, winning four total matches and securing the championship on Sunday morning (Oct. 16). That same afternoon, Anna Brylin and Brooke Killingsworth were crowned champions of the A2 Doubles division. The victory earned the two a berth to the ITA Fall Nationals scheduled to take place in San Diego, California next month (Nov. 2-6).
The Carolina Regionals championships were all firsts for Brylin, Killingsworth, and Lynch. No. 2 Sarah Hamner of South Carolina won the A2 Singles Championship.

From the Head Honcho
"It was a very good regional for us," said head coach Jeff Wyshner. "Obviously, Anna and Brooke winning their draw and qualifying for fall nationals again was a great effort, but we had several other strong performances as well. Maddie winning her flight was very impressive. Nevena took out a seed with a three-set win, and Casie was close to making her final. Now, most of the group has to settle into doing the work to be ready and better in January!"
