
Todd Named ACC Defensive Player of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Wake Forest field hockey freshman goalkeeper Ellie Todd was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league Tuesday afternoon.
Todd earned the first conference accolade of her career after pitching her third shutout of the season in Wake Forest's ACC home-opening victory against No. 22 Duke on Sunday, Oct. 2.
The Boston, Mass. native tallied five saves in 60 minutes of game action in goal to earn the seventh win of her freshman season.
Todd and the Demon Deacon defense have given up less than two goals in its last five-matches, dating back to its 1-0 shutout victory against Ohio State in Columbus on Sept. 18. Overall, the Deacs have held opponents to two goals or less in nine matches this season.
Overall, Todd has made 32 defensive stops in 10 starts.
Todd is the second Demon Deacon to earn ACC Player of the Week honors after Meike Lanckohr was named the conference's Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 13 after tallying a team-high 12 points (five goals and two assists) during Wake Forest's West Coast sweep.
Wake Forest closes out its four-match homestand next weekend against No. 7 Louisville (Friday, Oct. 7) and VCU (Sunday, Oct. 9).
Friday's conference showdown, set for a 6 p.m. start, against the nationally-ranked Cardinals will be broadcasted live on ACC Network.
