Hinds Posts Career Best Against Alabama

11/23/2022 1:37:00 PM | Women's Basketball

The Demon Deacons were led by a career-high 18 points and 10 rebounds by junior forward Demeara Hinds, but the first career double-double was not enough in 61-58 loss to Alabama.

NASSAU, Bahamas – Despite a career performance from junior Demeara Hinds, the Wake Forest women's basketball team dropped a 61-58 thriller at the Baha Mar Pink Flamingo Championship to Alabama Wednesday in Nassau, Bahamas.

The Deacs (3-3, 0-1 ACC) attacked the basket early and often throughout the tight contest, feeding Hinds in the post throughout the first half. The Douglasville, Ga. native was on fire in the paint, netting 12 of her career-high 18 points in the first 20 minutes.

Coming into the game, Hinds previous career high was nine points which she tied on Monday in a loss to Missouri. She doubled that effort on Wednesday against the Crimson Tide (3-2, 0-0 SEC) and also pulled down 10 rebounds for her first career double-double performance. She also added three blocks and two assists to her statline.

Both her points and rebounds were game-highs as well.

She continued to be one of the best rebounders in the country through the first six games of the season. The junior has now tallied 58 rebounds or 9.7 rebounds per game. Additionally, she grabbed four offensive rebounds and has totaled 26 offensive rebounds this season, the second most by any Power-5 player. Her offensive rebounding total also was tied for fifth in the country entering the game Wednesday.

In addition to Hinds, the Deacs were also led on the offensive end by junior guard Jewel Spear who netted 16 points while senior Kaia Harrison added 12 points on 6-of-9 shooting.

With her four threes in the game, Spear now needs just five more to break into the top five in program history in that category.

An exciting season awaits at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum as the Wake Forest women's basketball team! There is no better time than now to become a season ticket holder and support your Demon Deacons at home this season.

Along with your purchase of a $50 season ticket package this season there are many added benefits exclusive only to those who buy season tickets.
