
Deacs Look to Remain Unbeaten at Home

The Demon Deacons return home after completing the Baha Mar Pink Flamingo Championship to take on Coastal Carolina Sunday at LJVM Coliseum.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – After the Baha Mar Pink Flamingo Championship, the Wake Forest women's basketball team returns to Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum, facing Coastal Carolina Sunday.
The Deacs (3-3) will look to continue their winning ways at home after starting the season 2-0 with victories over Elon and Mercer.In her new role as a starter this season, junior forward Demeara Hinds has made the most of the opportunity, averaging 8.0 points and 9.7 rebounds per game which are more than double her output from last season. Additionally, Hinds is coming off the best game of her career with 18 points and 10 rebounds per game, the first double-double of her collegiate career.
The Chanticleers (1-3) are coming off their first win of the season on Wednesday, defeating Division II Coker, 104-38. Following their win, they now have four players averaging double-figure points and are led in that category by forward Aja Blount at 15.8 points per game. Additionally, Coastal Carolina shoots the three at a high clip as their 37.7 average from behind the arc ranks 39th in the nation.

FAMILY AND YOUTH DAY
Sunday will be Family and Youth Day at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
On the concourse, there will be games including Mini Golf and Giant Chess.

CLEANING THE GLASS
Through six games this season, junior forward Demeara Hinds has been one of the best players on the glass in the country, pulling down 58 rebounds which ranks 10th nationally and leads all ACC players. Additionally, she has collected 26 offensive rebounds.
Through six games played, she ranks second among all Power-5 players with that offensive rebound total and her total is tied for fifth nationally.
Hinds has pulled down nine or more rebounds in the last five games and 10 or more on three occasions.

The Deacs attacked the basket early and often throughout the tight contest, feeding Demeara Hinds in the post throughout the first half. The Douglasville, Ga. native was on fire in the paint, netting 12 of her career-high 18 points in the first 20 minutes.

Coming into the game, Hinds previous career high was nine points which she tied on Monday in a loss to Missouri. She doubled that effort on Wednesday against the Crimson Tide and also pulled down 10 rebounds for her first career double-double performance. She also added three blocks and two assists to her statline.

Both her points and rebounds were game-highs as well.

Milan Quinn posted her fourth double-double of the season with 22 points and 14 rebounds. The 22 points set a new career high while the 14 rebounds tied her career high. She also had a career-high five steals and tied her career high with four blocks.

CHASING 1,000
After breaking the program record with 30 double-figure scoring games, netting the fourth-most points in school history a season ago with 567 and leading the ACC in scoring with 18.3 points per game, junior Jewel Spear has put herself in position to join exclusive company in the 1,000-point club early in the season.
She goes into the Coastal Carolina game with 922 career points, just 78 points away from becoming the 30th player in program history to reach the 1,000-point milestone.
