Weight Throw Highlights Day 1 at Camel City Invitational

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. --- Wake Forest's track and field teams capped off the first day of the Camel City Invite with four podium marks at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem
The Demon Deacons were highlighted by Jack Pihklar's 20.15m toss in the men's weight throw, which moved to No. 3 all-time and gave him a new personal best. The rest of the No. 8 men's weight throw event group placed No. 2 Andrew White, No. 4 Thomas Kitchell, No. 6 Mason Ellis and No. 7 Jake Goldberg inside the top-10.
In the men's high jump, Tony Jones leaped an impressive 2.05m, giving him a first place finish. Addison Berry set a new personal best in the women's high jump with a third place finish at 1.65m mark.
EVENT RANKINGS
In the first national ranking of the season, the Demon Deacon men's 3000m (3rd) and weight throw (8th) event groups are ranked top-10 in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) rankings.

NEXT ACTION
Wake Forest has four regular seasons, the next three weekends scheduled in February, starting with the Queens February Multi & Track Meet (Feb. 7-8), Darius Dixon Invite (Feb. 11-12), David Hemery Valentine Invite (Feb. 11-12) and JDL DMR Invite (Feb. 18-19)
After that, the postseason begins with the ACC Indoor Championships in Blacksburg, Va., on Feb. 24-26. Wake Forest will head to Birmingham, Ala., on March 11-12 for the NCAA Indoor Championships. One week later, the outdoor season cranks up in Charlotte.
