This marks just the second time in series history the two schools did not play each other in a season.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wake Forest women's basketball team hits the road to face in-state foe Duke on the road at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Sunday night.
The Demon Deacons (12-10, 2-9 ACC) are set to play against Duke for the first time since Jan. 2, 2020 when Wake Forest came home with its first victory at Cameron Indoor since 1993. Also, 2020-21 marked the first season the two schools had not played since the 1975-76 season. If the Deacs can get the win on Sunday, it would be the first time since 1988 and 1989 that they won consecutive games on the road against Duke.
The Blue Devils (14-7, 5-6 ACC) have spent much of the season ranked inside of the top 25 after starting the season 9-0. Duke has dropped three of its last four games, all coming to ranked opponents, but rebounded on Thursday to capture a 54-39 victory over Pitt. Like Wake Forest, they are one of the better rounding teams in the nation, pulling down 850 boards this season to rank 39th nationally.
Tipoff for Sunday night's game against the Blue Devils is scheduled for 6 p.m. (ET) at Cameron Indoor Stadium. The game can also be seen on ACC Network.
Fans can follow along via the Demon Deacons Twitter, Instagram and Facebook accounts (@WakeWBB).
CRASHING THE GLASS
Getting on the glass has been a point of emphasis for head coach Jen Hoover since she arrived on campus. In the last seven seasons, Wake Forest has averaged better than 38 rebounds per game including averaging 40 or more during the 2013- 14 season (40.5 rebounds per game) and the 2016-17 season (41.1 rebounds per game).
This season the Demon Deacons are off to another impressive start on the glass, totaling 884 rebounds which ranks 19th while also having the second-best mark in the Hoover era with 40.2 rebounds per game.
Additionally, the Deacs have outrebounded opponents in 13 of 22 contests this season, holding an 11-2 record in such games.
