Wake Forest Moves into Top Three after Day Two of Northrop Grumman

PALOS VERDES, Calif. – The Wake Forest women's golf team recorded the second-lowest round of the day to move into third place in the field of 16 with 18 holes left to play at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge.
Wake Forest leads scoring on par threes for the event and is second in scoring on par fours. They have also recorded the third-most birdies in the field with 31 over the first two rounds. Rachel Kuehn leads all players in scoring on par threes and par fours and has recorded the most birdies in the field over the first two rounds with 12. Vanessa Knecht is one of two players in the field to record two eagles over the first two rounds.
Kuehn continued to lead the Demon Deacons in the second round with her second consecutive score of 67. Three birdies on her first nine got her through the turn at three under and three more on her second nine kept her at four under for the day and eight under for the tournament. She currently has a six-stroke lead on the field.
Carolina Chacarra jumped up 16 spots on the leaderboard with a second-round score of 70. She was able to balance a double bogey on her first nine with two birdies and a bogey on the second nine with two more birdies for her one under par score. Lauren Walsh rounds out the Deacs in the top 25 after the second round, as she jumped four spots on the board and birdied two of her last three holes of the day.
Tuesday's final round will start with a shotgun at 11 a.m. ET. Wake Forest will be paired with Oregon, Virginia and Arizona State off holes one, three, four and five.
