
Wake Forest Three Strokes Back After First Round of Regional Play

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – The Wake Forest women's golf team sits three strokes off the cut line after the first 18 holes of regional play. The Deacs have two players inside the top 12 of the 66-player field.
Wake Forest was second in scoring on all par fives and was fourth on par threes. The Deacs recorded 55 pars and 16 birdies in the first round.
Rachel Kuehn paced the team after Wake Forest had a slow start. Kuehn was third in scoring on par threes and par fives and was second in the field with six birdies, four of which came on her first nine holes of the day. She is currently tied for fourth on the individual leaderboard.
Carolina Chacarra was right behind Kuehn with three birdies on her first nine to keep the Deacs in the top half of the field. She recorded four on the day to finish inside the top 12.
Lauren Walsh led the team with 12 pars over her round. She also recorded two birdies. Mimi Rhodes tallied three birdies over her round and Virunpat Olankitkunchai started the day on a high note with a birdie on her first hole.
Second Round
The second of three rounds will begin Tuesday morning at 8:00 a.m. CT. Wake Forest will tee off the first hole beginning at 8:00 in 11-minute intervals and will be paired with Texas A&M and UTSA.
