Four Demon Deacons Selected to All-ACC Academic Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. – For the second year in a row, four Wake Forest women's golfers have been named to the All-ACC Academic team.
This is the second time Rachel Kuehn and Lauren Walsh have earned the accolade, and first time for freshman Carolina Chacarra and graduate transfer Virunpat Olankitkunchai. Wake Forest had the second-most selections of any school for women's golf.
Kuehn, a WGCA All-America First Team selection, led the Deacs with a 71.18 stroke average over 33 rounds this season. She had seven top 10 finishes with five of them coming inside the top five. She earned ACC Player of the Year and All-ACC honors at the conclusion of the regular season. She was also named one of 10 finalists for the 2022 ANNIKA Award presented by Stifel.
On the international circuit, she is set to compete at the Arnold Palmer Cup for the third time and is fresh off representing Team USA at the Curtis Cup for the second time.
After winning the Tar Heel Invite in October, Kuehn was named to the final Fall Watch List in October. Since then, she was tabbed ACC Women's Golfer of the month and won the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge, breaking the tournament record with her 54-hole score of 10-under 203. The win also earned her an LPGA exemption into the JTBC Championship at Palos Verdes in April.
Walsh had her highest finish of the year at ACC Championships, earning medalist honors coming in tied for third in the field of 64. She recorded seven top-25 finishes in eight outings and was selected to the 2022 Curtis Cup GB&I Team after earning All-ACC honors for the second time. Walsh also currently ranks inside of the top 50 in the WAGR.
Chacarra, a WGCA All-America Second Team selection, was second on the team with a 71.79 stroke average over 33 rounds this season. She had five top 10 finishes with four of them coming inside the top five. She earned ACC Freshman of the Year and All-ACC honors at the conclusion of the regular season. She was also named one of 10 finalists for the 2022 ANNIKA Award presented by Stifel.
On the international circuit, she is set to compete at the Arnold Palmer Cup for the first time this summer.
Chacarra won her first two collegiate tournaments back-to-back this spring and became the first Wake Forest women's golfer to win multiple events in her debut season since Stephanie Neill in 1991-92. To start the spring, Chacarra won the UCF Challenge in February with the lowest 54-hole score in relation to par in Wake Forest program history and tied for the second lowest in NCAA history. Wake Forest took home the team title.
Chacarra and the Deacs closed out the month with another win, with Chacarra taking home the individual title and Wake Forest taking home the team title at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate in March. Following both wins, Chacarra was named ACC women's golfer of the month.
Olankitkunchai played in the lineup for seven of eight regular season events and every postseason event. She was the top finisher for the B Team at the Bryan National Collegiate in September, finishing in fourth place with a five-under 211 and had five top 25 finishes throughout the season. ...finished T13 with a six-under 210 at the UCF Challenge to start the spring season, her best coming at ACC Championships where she earned medalist honors, coming in T3 with a one-under 215. She was fifth on the team with a stroke average of 73.18 in 33 rounds
To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic team, a student-athlete, regardless of classification, must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.
The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
