CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Wake Forest women's golf head coach Kim Lewellen has been named the East Regional Coach of the Year by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA).
During the 2021-22 season, the ACC Coach of the Year led the Deacs' to their second ACC title in four years and made an appearance at the NCAA Championships for the fourth year in a row. Including the ACC title, Wake Forest won a program-record five team titles this season and remained in the top-five of the Mizuno WGCA Coaches Poll for the entirety of the spring season.
Lewellen coached ACC Player of the Year Rachel Kuehn and ACC Freshman of the Year Carolina Chacarra, both of which earned WGCA All-America accolades. Wake Forest also had a program-record four players earn All-ACC recognition.
Since arriving in Winston-Salem in 2018, Lewellen has led the Demon Deacons to two ACC titles, an ACC individual title, an NCAA Runner-up finish, 14 team titles and 13 individual titles and she has coached 11 All-Americans. With Lewellen at the helm, Wake Forest has never finished outside of the top four at ACC Championships or NCAA Regionals. In 2020, Lewellen was named the WGCA National Coach of the Year after the Deacs finished the COVID-shortened season as the No. 1 ranked team in the country. She has also been named the ACC Coach of the Year twice, in 2019 and 2022 after winning the conference title both years.
