Lowder Becomes Unanimous All-American; Earns First Team Honors from Baseball America

The 2022 ACC Pitcher of the Year becomes the third Unanimous All-American in program history.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest baseball's Rhett Lowder became the third Unanimous All-American in program history as the right hander was named a First Team selection by Baseball America, as announced by the publication.
Lowder joins Will Craig (2015-16) and Stuart Fairchild (2017) as the only Demon Deacons in program history to receive six All-America honors in the same year.
The national recognition from Baseball America is the second First Team All-America honor for the Albemarle, N.C. native as Lowder garnered First Team All-America accolades from the ABCA. Lowder was also recognized by Collegiate Baseball (Second Team), Perfect Game (Second Team) D1Baseball (Second Team) and the NCBWA (Third Team).
Lowder's historic 2022 campaign also led him to be named the 2022 ACC Pitcher of the Year (the first in Wake Forest history), a First Team All-ACC selection, an ABCA/Rawlings First-Team All-Region selection and a finalist for the 2022 Pitcher of the Year Award, the first in Wake Forest history.
The sophomore became just the fifth pitcher in program history and the first since 2002 to reach 11 victories in a season following Wake Forest's 16-3 victory over Miami in the ACC Tournament.
At the end of Wake Forest's season, Lowder was just one of six pitchers in the entire nation with at least 11 wins this season.
In addition to leading the conference in victories, Lowder ranked second in innings pitched, third in ERA and third in strikeouts. He was the only hurler in the ACC to rank in the top three of each category.
The Albemarle, N.C. native's 105 strikeouts in 2022 rank 10th all time in Wake Forest history.
Lowder also ranked in the top 10 in WHIP (sixth) and strikeout-to-walk ratio (ninth) in the conference.
In conference play, the sophomore held the lowest ERA (2.60) and pitched the most innings (65.2) in addition to the second-most victories (six) and fourth-most Ks (63).
He recorded 12 quality starts in his 16 outings this season. Additionally, Lowder allowed three runs or less in 15 appearances. Additionally, Lowder walked one or less batters in nine starts.
The sophomore earned ACC and Perfect Game Pitcher of the Week honors after he tossed the first complete game by a Demon Deacon since 2017 on just 87 pitches on May 19, striking out six batters while allowing just five hits and no walks to open Wake Forest's first series sweep over NC State in Raleigh.
