Whiteheart Named to Mackey Award Watch List

This marks the sixth time in the last seven seasons Wake Forest has placed a player on the honor’s watch list.
NEW YORK, N.Y. – Wake Forest tight end and team captain Blake Whiteheart earned a spot on the 2022 John Mackey Award Watch List, as announced by the John Mackey Foundation.
The award is annually given to college football's top tight end. This marks the sixth time in the last seven seasons a Demon Deacon has been named to the watch list (Brandon Chapman, 2020-21, Jack Freudenthal, 2019 and Cam Serigne, 2016-17).
Additionally, Wake Forest is one of three schools in the country (Penn State, USC) to have at least one player named to every award watch list this week:
In Wake Forest's 37-17 road victory at Virginia, Whiteheart recorded his first collegiate touchdown while catching a season-high three passes, highlighted by a touchdown, at Clemson. Whiteheart's third and final touchdown catch of the season helped clinch the ACC Atlantic Division title at Boston College.
