
Deacons Sweep Wildcats on Friday Night

Emma Farrell had another stellar defensive performance for Wake Forest.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Making way to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte's campus grounds, Wake Forest volleyball (7-3) kicked off its weekend on a strong note with a 3-0 victory over Davidson on Friday evening (25-16, 25-20, 25-17).
The sweep was the Demon Deacons' fourth such win of the fall season.
Emma Farrell led all individuals with 22 digs, tying the third-best all-time total by a Wake Forest individual in a three-set match.
Emmy Ogogor posted a standout two-way showing of nine kills and seven blocks. Additionally, the senior tallied a .615 attacking clip. Olivia Franke had her most efficient night of hitting this fall, going 8-of-11 for eight kills and only one error (.636).
Rian Baker served up a match-best 20 assists. Andrea Fuentes finished with a line of 13 assists, four digs, and three service aces. Kalani Whillock added nine digs.
Peyton Suess and Ashley Slater plugged in seven kills apiece.
Wake Forest moved to 9-2 in its series history versus Davidson.

Back-to-back Deacon blocks and an Ashley Slater kill gave Wake Forest the first four points of set one.

Davidson jumped on the board after scoring on three tries.

Two kills by Olivia Franke led to a 9-5 lead by the Deacs.

Both teams traded the next slew of possessions before the Wildcats called for a timeout.

After two more errors by the Wildcats, Emmy Ogogor and Peyton Suess put the finishing touches on set one with a kill apiece.

Ogogor notched a kill down the middle and a solo block once the second frame unfolded.

Strong hitting by the Deacs, while taking advantage of Davidson's mistakes, led to another early period lead.

Fuentes laced another ace, with Wake Forest leading 9-4.

Davidson added a few more points but the Deacons got hot on another run, upping their advantage to 16-10 in set two.

Wake Forest held a .300 attacking percentage at the time.

After the Deacs reached their 20th point, Davidson soon began to cut into the deficit, down 21-18.

A punch by Paige Crawford ended the run, and Davidson committed two serving errors soon afterward.

Wake Forest's hitting stayed effective, maintained by several different individuals.

Fuentes set up Audrey Douglas nicely for a last punch down the right side.

Davidson responded with a few quick ones of their own, tying the margin at 4.

A 6-0 push by the Deacs soon happened, leading to a timeout called by the opposition.

The Wake Forest hitters continued to lead an aggressive attack down the stretch, as the lead grew to 19-12.

Ogogor especially stood out on that front with a mixture of kills and assisted blocks.

Davidson again tried to make something happen late on a few actions, but Wake Forest only needed a few more successful plays to put an end to things.

Franke again stepped up in the closing possessions as an anchor.

Ogogor and Lauren Strain teamed up on a final block to win set three for the Deacs, 25-17.
