BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Seven Demon Deacons ran personal bests as the Wake Forest women's cross country team placed 11th out of 46 teams Friday at the 48th annual Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh.
The Deacs were paced by Mackenna Curtis-Collins who placed 27th, running a personal best time of 20:08.0. Madeline Rehm also ran a personal best as she finished 58th, running 20:30.0.
Hana Catsimanes (20:42.9), Elise Wright (20:45.3) and Caroline Garrett (20:46.5) all finished in the top-100 as they placed 85th, 90th and 91st, respectively.
The Deacs top-five spread of Curtis-Collins, Rehm, Catsimanes, Wright and Garrett all finished within 40 seconds of each other.
Wake Forest was one of only nine teams to have five runners place in the top-100. The Demon Deacons' 11th place finish was the third-highest of all the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) teams at the event.
Quotables
"Our entire top-seven ran a new personal best today and our top-five spread was under 40 seconds. We got off the line well in a big field but settled a little too much in the middle, before moving up well over the last mile. Overall, it was a solid day with room to improve as the season progresses." - associate head coach, Ashley Bastron
