Hansen Places Sixth Overall at Nuttycombe Invitational

The Demon Deacons will now prepare for the 2023 ACC Championships.
MADISON, Wisc. – In a field that featured 23 ranked teams, including 17 ranked inside the top 20, freshman Rocky Hansen placed sixth individually, leading Wake Forest to a 16th-place team finish Friday at the Nuttycombe Invitational in Madison, Wisc.
Hansen, a two-time Gatorade North Carolina Player of the Year, clocked 23:27.2 in only his second collegiate race en route to the sixth-place finish.
Sophomore's Joe O'Brien (24:11.3) and Gavin Ehlers (24:21.6), recorded solid performances as they finished 62nd and 96th, respectively. Freshman Hunter Jones and junior Luke Tewalt placed 133rd and 136th to complete the Demon Deacons' top-five spread.
Overall, the Demon Deacons finished ahead of five teams that came into Friday's race ranked in the top-15 nationally.
