
Wake Forest Men’s Golf Ends Round One In The Top-3 At The Creekside Course

Scotty Kennon and Marshall Meisel finished round one in the top-15 at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate Invitational.
ALPHARETTA, GA. - The Wake Forest men's golf team finished round one in third at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate Invitational Friday. The Deacs shot 7-under-par as a team during the first round and were led by the upperclassmen.
Junior Marshall Meisel started off strong with four birdies through the first nine holes. Meisel tallied back-to-back birdies on holes No. 12 and 13. Just after the turn, the junior recorded an eagle along with a birdie on the final hole. The Chevy Chase, Md. native ended with a season-low 69 (-3). He is tied for seventh and the highest Demon Deacon on the individual leaderboard.
Scotty Kennon continues his stellar play this fall finishing the day tied for 13th. The junior tallied five birdies through 18 at the Creekside Course. Two of those birdies came back-to-back on holes No. 10 and 11. He looks to continue his strong individual play as he is looking for his third consecutive top-25 finish. After 18 holes, he is 2-under-par.
In his second appearance of the fall, Clay Stirsman put on his best performance of the season. After a slow start, Stirsman recorded a total of four birdies with two back-to-back birdies on holes No. 1 and 2. The Indiana native tallied a clutch eagle right before the turn on hole No. 18 to be one of four Deacs to finish the day below par.
Michael Brennan recorded five birdies through the first 18 holes at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate and is 1-under while sophomore Andrew McLauchlan finished the round with 16 pars and a birdie shooting even on the day.
The Demon Deacons will tee off Saturday morning from 10:50 a.m. through 11:34 against No. 15 Texas A&M and Northwestern. Clay Stirsman will be the first off the tee for the Deacs for round two.
