Garrison Tubbs Named ACC Defensive Player of the Week

This marks the second-straight season Tubbs has earned ACC Defensive Player of the Week honors.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Captaining a Wake Forest side that earned two clean sheet victories last week, Garrison Tubbs has been named ACC Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office Tuesday.
Extending an ACC-best winning streak to seven-straight matches, Wake Forest last week earned a 2-0 victory over Wofford on Tuesday night before defeating No. 14 North Carolina 1-0 on Saturday in the program's annual Genna Wiley Memorial Match.
In the victory over Wofford – who traveled to Winston-Salem riding a nine-match unbeaten streak dating back to August – Wake Forest earned its 100th home victory since the start of the 2015 season. The Deacs are the only program nationally to earn at least 100 wins on home turf over the last nine years.
Then in Saturday's Big Four rivalry matchup, Wake Forest held North Carolina scoreless to earn its fourth consecutive clean sheet. The Demon Deacons have also not conceded a goal to an ACC opponent in the last 448 minutes of action.
Additionally, the victory kept Wake Forest at the top of the Atlantic Division with two conference matches remaining on the season.
A preseason Mac Hermann Trophy Watch List selection, Tubbs so far this season has started all 14 of his appearances to lead Wake Forest to a 10-1-3 record with seven shutouts. He also scored the game-winning goal in a 3-1 victory at Campbell on Sept. 26.
The Demon Deacons will remain at Spry Stadium for both of the team's matches this week, first hosting Robert Morris tonight at 7 p.m. in the final non-conference match of the regular season before a Friday night, nationally televised showdown with No. 8 Notre Dame. The matchup will feature the ACC's Atlantic and Coastal Division leaders.
Kick-off will be 8 p.m. and the contest will air nationally on the ACC Network.
