Demon Deacons Head to Boston College for Friday Night ACC Matchup

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's soccer team returns to ACC action Friday night, traveling to Boston College for a 7 p.m. matchup at Newton Campus Soccer Field.
The Demon Deacons enter Friday's contest with a 7-3-1 overall record and a 3-2-0 mark in ACC play after falling to No. 1 SMU, 2-0, on Oct. 2. The loss snapped a three-match winning streak for the Deacs, who have scored 23 goals through their first 11 matches while allowing just 11.
Boston College enters the matchup at 5-3-2 overall and 1-3-1 in ACC play. The Eagles have scored 19 goals this season while allowing 17 and enter Friday having dropped their last two contests, including a 3-1 setback against North Carolina on Oct. 3. The defeat to the Tar Heels was their first loss of the season at home as they now hold a 5-1-1 at the Newton Campus Soccer Field.

MATCHUP NOTES
JONAH RETURNS
Jonah Mednard returns to the Demon Deacons' squad Friday night after missing the last three matches while with the Haiti National Team. Mednard started each of Wake Forest's first eight matches of the season, recording 29 saves and a .784 save percentage while helping the Deacs post two solo clean sheets and combine with Quinn Syrett for another.
Owen Barnett stepped into the starting role in Mednard's absence and delivered a strong run between the posts. The sophomore helped Wake Forest earn a 2-1 victory at NC State, making three saves, before recording four saves and his first collegiate clean sheet in a 3-0 victory over Loyola Chicago. Barnett also started against No. 1 SMU, finishing his three-start stretch with 10 total saves, a .769 save percentage and a 2-1-0 record.
EL CAPITÁN
Jeffrey White has continued to provide a steady presence in his first season as team captain, entering Friday tied with Lorentz for the team lead with nine points on three goals and three assists.
The Tampa, Fla., native scored the game-winner in the 87th minute at NC State to lift the Demon Deacons to a 2-1 road victory and also recorded two assists in Wake Forest's 6-1 victory over Duke. With his goal against the Wolfpack, White moved to seven goals and eight assists for 22 career points at Wake Forest.
LAST TIME OUT
Wake Forest battled No. 1 SMU to a scoreless halftime draw last Friday before the Mustangs broke through in the 54th minute. The Deacs continued to push for an equalizer, recording six of their 10 shots and five of their seven corner kicks after halftime, before SMU added a second goal with seven seconds remaining. The defeat came after Wake Forest had won three straight and six of its previous seven matches.
The Deacs opened ACC play with a 6-1 victory over Duke before earning dramatic victories against Virginia and NC State, then closed a strong month of September with a 3-0 clean-sheet victory over Loyola Chicago.
THE EAGLES
Boston College is in its first season under interim head coach Francesco D'Agostino, who took over the program in August after Bob Thompson stepped down. D'Agostino previously spent six seasons as an associate head coach with the Eagles.
The Eagles' attack is led by Russell Brown, who has five goals and 11 points through 10 matches. Michael Asare has added four goals and nine points, while Dylan Mafong has three goals and nine points. Mafong leads Boston College with 24 shots, while Bryan Toro has a team-high four assists.
