Demon Deacons Close Regular Season on the Road

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest field hockey team wraps up the regular season on the road this weekend at No. 10 Syracuse on Friday and Colgate on Sunday.

The match against the Orange on Friday is set for a 4 p.m. ET start on the ACC Network Extra while Sunday's match against the Raiders will air on ESPN+ at noon.

Wake Forest Highlights
• The Deacs are averaging 4.43 saves a game ranking second in the ACC while Ellie Todd is second among league keepers with 3.86 SPG. Todd ranks third in the league with 54 saves on the season. The Demon Deacons are tied for first in the ACC with six shutouts through 14 matches of the 2023 campaign while the .429 Sho/G ranks first as well.
Faye Janse (15th) and Nat Friedman (22nd) rank in the top 25 of the ACC in shots per game with Janse averaging 1.86 with Friedman behind her with 1.50 per game.
• Junior Brooke McCusker has scored in four of the last six matches, including back-to-back matches with a goal. 
 
Opponent/Series History
• Wake Forest takes on Syracuse for the 15th time in program history. The Orange lead the Deacs 8-6 all-time with Wake Forest winning the most recent matchup in 2022, 4-0.
• The Demon Deacons take on Colgate for the first time since 1998 in the two programs only prior meeting. Wake took the match 5-0 back in '98.
 
Up Next
Wake Forest turns their attention to the 2023 ACC Tournament with a date and opponent to be announced. The Deacs reached the semifinals of the 2022 ACC Tournament, before falling to Virginia in overtime of the semifinals.
