Wake Forest Wraps Up the First Round of the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate

The Demon Deacons completed the first round of play at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate.
JOHNSON CITY, TENN. - The Wake Forest men's golf team finished up round one at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate Sunday afternoon.The Demon Deacons are fielding three individual golfers for the three-day tournament at the Blackthorn Club. Boyd Owens, Kyle Haas and Tom Haberer teed off with ETSU and No. 5 Tennessee on Sunday.
Owens and Haas tied as the highest ranked Deacs in the field through the first round at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate.
Owens tallied birdies on holes No. 1, No. 4 and No. 14. Haas posted two birdies on the front nine during round one. At the turn, Haas had a strong performance on the back nine with only one bogey.
In his last appearance, Haberer made his first career top-25 finish. During the first round today, the freshman recorded three birdies through the first 18 holes.
Round two will begin Monday morning at 8:30 a.m. in Johnson City. Haberer will be the first to tee off at 10:20 a.m. against golfers from Augusta and No. 5 Tennessee. Haas will tee off at 10:30 a.m. against golfers from Charleston and Liberty. Finally, Owens will be teeing off at 10:40 a.m. against ETSU and Tennessee golfers.
