Demon Deacons Host NC A&T for Midweek Clash

The Wake Forest women’s basketball team returns home to LJVM Coliseum as they host in-state NC A&T with tipoff scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on ACC Network Extra.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – After being on the road over the weekend, the Wake Forest women's basketball team returns home to Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum for an in-state clash with NC A&T on Wednesday night.
The Demon Deacons (1-1) will look to bounce back after a close road defeat over the weekend. Through two games, Wake Forest has been led by a strong start to the season from junior guard Elise Williams who is leading the team with 15.0 points per game and 3.5 assists per game while also ranking second on the team with 5.5 rebounds per game. Fellow guard Kate Deeble and Kaia Harrison join Williams with a double-figure scoring average.
The Aggies (1-0) will be playing their first regular season game against a Division-I team. In their season opener, NC A&T defeated Guilford College, 114-41. Seven players finished in double figures including all five of the Aggie starters. They were led offensively by D'Mya Tucker who posted 23 points while also having eight rebounds and three assists. In a road exhibition at Georgia, NC A&T dropped a tightly contested 71-59 game with Tucker posting a team-high 14 points in the loss.

Winning the Glass
Despite dropping Saturday's contest to Davidson, the Demon Deacons outrebounded the Wildcats 36-29. This season, the Deacs own a +18 rebounding advantage over their opponents.
Wake Forest finished the opener with a +11 rebounding margin, the best mark in the regular-season since the victory over Longwood on Dec. 15, 2022.
Additionally, 43 total rebounds is also the most for the Demon Deacons in the regular season since the Longwood game (Dec. 15, 2022).
Freshman Phenom
In the Opening Night win over Wofford, Redshirt freshman guard Kate Deeble set a new career-highs with 19 points (8-of-16 shooting) and five rebounds in addition to two steals and an assist. Deeble connected on a team-high three triples.
Deeble was one of just three ACC freshmen to have 18 or more points in a game during the opening week of the season.
Perfect at the Stripe
Graduate guard Kaia Harrison goes into Wednesday with a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line. She is one of just 88 players nationally and one of just six in the ACC to have a perfect free throw percentage.
Sørbye Signs
Last week, coach Megan Gebbia inked her first international signee in Norwegian guard Aurora Sørbye.
Sørbye has been an integral part of the Norwegian national system and has shined on the international stage during competitions over the last two years.
Sørbye led Norway on the international stage at both the 2023 U20 and U18 European Championships, finishing with double-digit points per game in both events while also leading Norway in assists.
She becomes the first Norwegian signee, the first European signee since 2021 and the 11th overall in program history.
Owning the Arc
Wake Forest has tallied 14 threes through the first two games of the season including finishing the win over Wofford with eight threes in the game.
Last season, the Deacs hit eight or more threes 13 different times. The Demon Deacons ended the season ranked third in the ACC with 6.7 threes made per game.
On the defensive side of the floor, Wake Forest limited opponents to just 28.5 percent shooting from behind the arc, ranking 56th in the country last season.
Overall as a team, this has been one of the best three-point shooting years in program history, knocking down a 223 threes which is second in program history

- Individually, the Deacs were led by junior guard Elise Williams, who tallied 16 points. Graduate guard Kaia Harrison joined Williams as the lone Demon Deacons to score in double figures as she notched 10 points, while shooting an impressive 6-for-6 from the charity stripe.
