The 2023 All-Big East honoree joins the Demon Deacons with 34 matches played in his collegiate career.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Wake Forest men's soccer has announced the addition of Pierce Bateson to the 2024 roster. The Madison, N.J., native will arrive in Winston-Salem in January following two seasons at UConn.
"We could not be more excited to welcome Pierce to our Demon Deacon Family," said head coach Bobby Muuss. "He is a player with tremendous soccer IQ and combined with his playmaking ability and having a great amount of collegiate experience, it will help him to make a seamless transition with the way we play."
In his two seasons in Storrs, Bateson appeared in 34 matches with 23 starts, registering six assists with three goals while being named an All-Big East selection in 2023.
During the 2023 campaign, Bateson logged 1,281 minutes of action while ranking second on UConn in points with 10 off of four assists and three goals.
Two of his three goals were game-winning strikes against St. John's and Creighton, and he led the Huskies with 36 shots. His efforts landed him an All-Big East third-team selection.
Bateson appeared in 16 matches with eight starts including his collegiate debut for the Huskies in 2022. He logged a pair of assists in victories over Maine at Fort Kent and Stonehill.
Prior to his collegiate career, Bateson attended numerous Republic of Ireland National Team camps, played for the U-15 National Team and spent 2022-22 with Cedar Stars Bergen alongside Wake Forest goalkeeper Jonah Mednard.
