
Wake Forest Suffers Sunday Setback at Notre Dame

The Demon Deacons concluded their road stretch in South Bend.
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Playing another outing out of state, No. 25 Wake Forest women's tennis (12-8, 3-4) visited Notre Dame (12-7, 2-5) on Sunday afternoon (March 26). The host team ultimately protected its floor in a 7-0 sweep.
The match marked the end of a four-match road stretch for the Demon Deacons. Eight contests make up the remainder of the team's regular-season slate, six of which will take place at the Wake Forest Tennis Center, where the Deacs are currently 8-2.
Nevena Carton forced two tiebreakers on Sunday.
How it Happened

No. 26 Anna Brylin/Brooke Killingsworth were the first Deacon duo to take a lead in doubles, 2-1.

Brylin battled through rallies to hold a slight 4-3 advantage in the second period.

The Fighting Irish clinched the match with a straight-sets decision in third singles.

Remaining matches were then played out.

Following a second-singles victory by Notre Dame, Carton was the final Deac remaining and tied her court at 5-5 in set two.

The freshman went on to enter a tiebreaker for the second time of the afternoon.

Up Next
Wake Forest is back at home next weekend for the first time in nearly four weeks. The Deacs welcome in Boston College on Friday (March 31) before hosting a Sunday doubleheader versus Syracuse and in-state foe Elon University (April 2). The team will hold its 'Senior Day' during that Sunday, honoring Anna Brylin and Maddie Lynch.
