Program Record 12 Deacs Named to Men’s Indoor Track & Field All-ACC Academic Team

Graduate students Thomas Vanoppen and Andrew White earned honors for the second-consecutive season.
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Following a successful 2023 campaign, 12 members of the Wake Forest men's indoor track & field team earned All-ACC Academic honors Tuesday morning, as announced by the league office.
Tuesday's recognition marks the second-consecutive nod for graduate students Thomas Vanoppen and Andrew White. Of note, Vanoppen (Mile) and White (Weight Throw) both garnered All-American honors this season after strong performances at the 2023 NCAA Indoor Championships.
Additionally, Wake Forest's record-breaking 12 honorees marks the seventh-straight season the Demon Deacons have had multiple student-athletes tabbed to the list.
The 12 Deacs to earn honors Tuesday included senior Jack Dailey (Economics), graduate student Zach Facioni (Business Analytics), junior Jake Goldberg (Philosophy), junior Thomas Kitchell (Communications), senior Connor Mathis (Economics), freshman Joe O'Brien (Undeclared), graduate student Joe Pearl (English), freshman Paul Specht (Undeclared), sophomore Rynard Swanepoel (Undeclared), junior Luke Tewalt (Politics & International Affairs), graduate student Thomas V anoppen (Liberal Studies) and graduate student Andrew White (General Studies).
Academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Indoor Track and Field Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career.
In addition, student-athletes must have competed in the ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships and/or the NCAA Indoor Championships during the most recent season.
