Deacs Land Seventh Consecutive NCAA Tournament Bid, Primed to Face Arizona State in First Round

Postseason settings have shifted for Wake Forest this spring.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Wake Forest women's tennis will pack its bags in traveling to The Volunteer State this week, as the Demon Deacons (17-13) earned a bid to the 2023 NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Championships, announced on NCAA.com on Monday evening (May 1).
The team is set to visit Knoxville, Tennessee for the second time in its tournament history, taking on Arizona State (17-6) in a first-round tilt on Friday (May 5) at 1 p.m. ET.
The Monday selection officially marked a 22nd all-time NCAA tournament appearance for Wake Forest. Additionally, head coach Jeff Wyshner's group has made its way into the annual event for a seventh year in a row.
The Deacs played its postseason in Knoxville for the first time back during the 2009 spring campaign.

Wake Forest currently holds a 17-13 overall record while being ranked No. 29 within the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) team standings.
The Deacs appeared in this year's Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Women's Tennis Championships as the ninth seed, fighting strong to knock off No. 8-seeded Notre Dame in a comeback victory during the second round. Wake Forest reached the quarterfinals for a seventh-straight year, ultimately falling to No. 1-seeded North Carolina.
Heading into the weekend, the team continues to have three total individuals hold rankings within the ITA:
- No. 22 – Anna Brylin/Brooke Killingsworth (Doubles)
- No. 49 – Casie Wooten (Singles)
- No. 70 – Anna Brylin (Singles)
Additionally, Wake Forest has maintained a solid balance of solo performances from its group, as four players have racked up 10 or more singles victories:

First and second-round action of the NCAA tennis championships takes place May 5-6 and features four teams playing in a single-elimination format. The winner of each site advances to super-regional competition May 12 or 13. Each super-regional site will feature two teams playing a single-elimination format. The super-regional winners advance to the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida, where the eight teams will compete for the national championship May 17-20. This year's event will be conducted jointly with the NCAA Divisions II and III Men's and Women's Tennis Championships and hosted by the University of Central Florida and the Greater Orlando Sports Commission.
