Trio of Deacs Placed on Academic All-District Team

Adam Cecere, Justin Johnson and Rhett Lowder received recognition for their efforts in the classroom.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest baseball placed three student-athletes on the Collegiate Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, as announced this week by the organization.
Adam Cecere, Justin Johnson and Rhett Lowder received recognition for their efforts in the classroom and represented Wake Forest on the prestigious list.
Cecere, a Communication major, was awarded one of Wake Forest's four postgraduate scholarships from the ACC last month and landed on the All-ACC Academic Team last season. The Adams Township, Pa. native is batting .280 with 11 doubles and 10 home runs in 35 starts this season.
Johnson, who is earning his Masters in Analytics, has tallied a .354 batting average with 63 hits, 12 doubles, two triples and 13 home runs. Johnson ranks in the top 10 in OPS and home runs in ACC play.
Lowder, an Economics major, has totaled a 1.52 ERA (lowest among starters in ACC) through 82.2 innings to go along with 96 strikeouts, 62 hits, 16 walks and 14 earned runs conceded this season. In conference competition, Lowder is the ACC leader in ERA (1.72) and wins (7) while throwing the most innings (57.2). The righthander is currently fourth in program history in strikeouts, while sitting fifth in career victories.
The three Deacs will now move on to a national vote to select three Academic All-America teams, which will be announced on June 7.
Wake Forest closes out the regular season with a three-game series against conference foe Virginia Tech on Thursday, May 18-Saturday, May 20. Tickets can be purchased here.
