Demon Deacons Set to Begin NCAA Play in Raleigh

5/7/2023 2:21:00 PM | Women's Golf

Raleigh, N.C. - The top-seeded Wake Forest women's golf team will begin NCAA play Monday, May 8-Wednesday, May 10 at the Raleigh, North Carolina NCAA Regional.

Other teams headed to Raleigh include ACC opponent Florida State and fellow top 26 teams in Arizona State, Florida and Arizona. Eight-seed and Big Four foe NC State will serve as host of the regional at NC State's Lonnie Poole Golf Course.

The Deacs won a record-breaking five regular season titles during the 2022-23 season and had all five lineup players earn All-ACC recognition. Senior Rachel Kuehn became the first Wake Forest women's golfer to become a two-time ACC Player of the Year last week when she was announced as the ACC Player of the Year for the second year in a row.

Along with Kuehn, Emilia Migliaccio, Lauren Walsh, Carolina Chacarra and Mimi Rhodes all earned a spot on the All-ACC Team. This marks the first time in program history that all five lineup players have earned All-League honors, with the first time coming last year at the conclusion of the 2021-22 season. Kuehn, Migliaccio and Walsh are all now three-time All-ACC honorees and Chacarra and Rhodes are two-time honorees, along with Chacarra being named the ACC Freshman of the Year at the conclusion of the 2021-22 campaign.

Coach's Comments
"We always enjoy coming to Raleigh to play at Lonnie Poole. It's an Arnold Palmer course, and with his rich history at Wake Forest, we know it's a Championship course. The green complexes are the most difficult part of this course, so we need to make sure our short game is dialed in this week, but we are excited to compete against an elite field to get to Grayhawk." - head coach Kim Lewellen
