Wake Forest Battles Wind on First Day of Regional Play

RALEIGH, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's golf team fought its way through wind gusts up to 15 mph in the first round of NCAA Regional play at Lonnie Poole golf course. The Deacs finished the day in a tie for seventh at the end of the first 18 holes.
Graduate student Emilia Migliaccio and senior Lauren Walsh paced the Deacs as both veterans shot an even-par 72 in the first round. Walsh's round was highlighted by an eagle on the par-five 11th hole and Migliaccio tallied two birdies on both her first nine and second nine holes.
Senior Rachel Kuehn and junior Mimi Rhodes each finished the day two over par and sophomore Carolina is four over par entering the second round. As a team, Wake Forest is four over par and tied for seventh place with TCU.
Tuesday's Second Round
Tuesday's second round will begin at 8:00 a.m. with tee times off the first and 10th tee. Wake Forest will be paired with TCU and Nebraska with tee times starting at 8:00 in 11-minute intervals off the 10th tee. Live scoring will be available via Golfstat.
