Lowder Named NCBWA District 4 Player of the Year

DALLAS – Wake Forest baseball's Rhett Lowder was named the District 4 Player of the Year by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, as announced by the organization on Friday afternoon.
Lowder was the only player from the ACC to be named one of NCBWA's 10 district players of the year. District 4 consists of Georgia, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Maryland.
The Albemarle, N.C. native has already received multiple accolades for his historic 2023 season:
Lowder has won a nation-leading 14 games this season and enters NCAA Super Regional play as the only pitcher in the nation with a perfect 14-0 record. Additionally, Wake Forest is 16-0 when Lowder toes the rubber.
Additionally, Lowder's 14 victories this season is currently tied with Kyle Sleeth (2002) for the most wins by a Demon Deacon pitcher in a single season ever.

This season, the two-time reigning ACC Pitcher of the Year has accumulated a 1.77 ERA in 101.2 innings to go along with a career-high 125 strikeouts.
After becoming the first Demon Deacon ever to receive the award last season, Lowder became just the second pitcher in conference history to garner back-to-back Pitcher of the Year honors (Danny Hultzen, 2010-11) two weeks ago.
Last week, Lowder was named one of five finalists for the 2023 Pitcher of the Year Award, as announced by the College Baseball Foundation.
For the second-straight year, Lowder was the only pitcher in the ACC to be named a finalist for the prestigious award given to the top collegiate pitcher in the nation, joining Grant Rogers (McNeese State), Simon Miller (UT-San Antonio), Tyson Neighbors (Kansas State) and Paul Skenes (LSU).
Last season, Lowder became the first Demon Deacon to be named a finalist for the award since its creation in 2009.
Lowder finished the regular season as the conference's leader in ERA (1.73), wins (12), innings pitched (88.2) and strikeouts (108). In ACC play, Lowder also led the conference in those same categories.
Additionally, Lowder continues to climb the program record book in career wins and career strikeouts.
Lowder's 29 career victories is tied for third by a Wake Forest pitcher. Additionally, the righthander's 29 wins are the most victories among active pitchers in Division I baseball.
