WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Deacs play their first regular season game on Thursday, Aug. 31 vs. Elon at 7:00 p.m. on ACC Network.
Over the last 12 years, Wake Forest is 9-3 in season openers including a 7-2 record in head coach Dave Clawson's tenure. Additionally, The Deacs hold a mark of 8-1 in home openers in the Clawson era.
Since the start of the 2016 season, Wake Forest holds a record of 20-6 in September. This includes eight of nine seasons in the Dave Clawson era with multiple wins in the month, the most recent coming in 2022 when the Deacs went 3-1 with the lone loss coming in overtime to No. 5 Clemson.
This is the 13th all-time meeting between the in-state rivals. The Deacs have won 11 of the 12 matchups with the Phoenix, with the lone tie coming in a defensive, 0-0 battle on Oct. 1, 1926 at home.
