Wake Forest to Open Fall Play Friday

Some Deacs will travel for the South Carolina Invitational, while others will remain in Winston-Salem for the Wake Forest Invitational.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — For the first time this fall, the Wake Forest men's tennis team will hit the courts for competition as the Demon Deacons will play at the Wake Forest Invitational and the South Carolina Invitational this weekend (Sept. 15-17).
Action at both tournaments will begin at 9 a.m. each day.
Wake Forest Invitational
The Deacs will host seven schools this weekend at the Wake Forest Tennis Center for their first tournament of the fall campaign.
Participating Schools: Wake Forest, Tennessee, Clemson, Cornell, Michigan State, Columbia and Texas Tech
Format: Hidden Dual
South Carolina Invitational
Participating Schools: Virginia, Arizona, Auburn, South Carolina, Duke, Columbia, North Carolina, NC State, Wake Forest and Michigan State
Format: For singles, there will be three flights with each flight containing 16 players (C will not be full). Flights A & B will be played as compass draws and flight C will consist of two four-man round robins with a playoff at the end.

Wake Forest welcomes nine newcomers entering the Fall 2023 season, highlighted by Utah transfer Franco Capalbo and James Madison transfer Holden Koons. Additionally, the Demon Deacons return seniors Filippo Moroni and Luciano Tacchi, along with graduate student Matthew Thomson.
ITA Preseason Rankings
In the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Preseason Rankings, Wake Forest had three singles players and two doubles pairs ranked.
