The Matchup
- Wake Forest and Liberty will meet at Spry Stadium for the second time in three seasons in Tuesday night's showdown.
- Through the team's first seven matches this season, Wake Forest is 3-1-3 on the year. Liberty, meanwhile, is 5-1-0 and currently riding a three-match winning streak.
- So far during Wake Forest's four-match homestand, the Demon Deacons defeated previously unbeaten Gardner-Webb 4-0 before drawing with No. 7 Syracuse 1-1.
- Liberty will serve as Wake Forest's sixth non-conference opponent of the season while the Deacs will be the Flames' only ACC opponent in the regular season.
- Wake Forest is 3-2-1 against Liberty dating back to the program's inaugural season.
- The Deacs will be looking for their first victory over the Flames since a 2-1 decision on Sept. 8, 1999.
- Hosting the reigning National Champions in the Deacs' home ACC opener, Wake Forest drew with No. 7 Syracuse 1-1 on Saturday night.
- Despite allowing a second-minute goal to the Orange, the goal was the only shot on target Syracuse would be allowed throughout the night.
- In the 74th minute, a consistent Deacon attack merited a penalty kick after Sidney Paris was taken down in the box. The junior stepped up to the spot and, after a brief stoppage in play by the officials, scored his second goal of the season to tie the game at 1-1 and earn Wake Forest's first ACC point of the season.
- Wake Forest dominated the number of shots taken (16-5), shots on goal (4-1), corners (8-3) and possession (57-43 percent).
- The one shot on goal was Syracuse's lowest total of the season and lowest mark in the Orange's last 13 matches.
- It marked the third time in seven matches (Furman and Grand Canyon) that Wake Forest has allowed just a single shot on goal.
- Including a 4-0 victory over Gardner-Webb and a 1-1 draw with No. 7 Syracuse last week, Wake Forest is currently 3-0-2 on the year in home matches while outscoring opponents 14-4 in those contests.
- With this senior class, Wake Forest over the last four seasons at Spry Stadium is 31-7-3. Additionally, since Bobby Muuss' first season as head coach in 2015 Wake Forest is 97-16-8 in matches played in Winston-Salem.
- The Deacs' 97 home victories are 20 more than any other program over the last nine seasons and only Clemson (74) and Virginia (72) join Wake Forest as ACC programs with more than 70 home wins over this span.
- With an 83.4 percent winning percentage at home under Muuss, Wake Forest also holds the ACC's best home winning percentage over the last nine years and ranks third nationally behind only Indiana (84.6) and New Hampshire (84.5).
- Liberty will travel to Winston-Salem on Tuesday night sporting a 5-1-0 record on the year with victories over Saint Peter's, Belmont Abbey, Navy, Longwood and USC Upstate. The Flames' only loss on the year was a 3-0 decision at UMBC on Sept. 1.
- Liberty's attack has been led by the one-two punch of Luke Eberle's five goals and Michael Huss' four goals. A 2022 ASUN All-Second Team selection, four of Eberle's five goals have come in the last three matches including a brace on Saturday night against USC Upstate.
- Eight Flames have registered an assist so far this season, led by Leo Conneh's four assists.
- Blake Franzen and Owen Moore have each started and completed three matches this season in goal, with Franzen starting the Flames' last match in a 4-1 victory over USC Upstate. Together, they have collected 23 saves.
- Wake Forest will conclude a four-match homestand with a Friday evening showdown against Clemson.
- Kick-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. and the match will air nationally on the ACC Network.
