Wake Forest Primed for North Carolina Invitational

The Demon Deacons are looking to build upon a strong opening to the 2023 fall slate.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — After a successful first weekend of fall play, the Wake Forest men's tennis team will travel to Chapel Hill for the North Carolina Invitational Friday at the Chewning Tennis Center.
The tournament will run Friday to Sunday and action will begin at 9 a.m. each day.
North Carolina Invitational
Participating Schools: North Carolina, Duke, NC State, Wake Forest, Furman, VCU and NC Central.
Last Time Out
In its first showing of the 2023 fall slate, Wake Forest Men's Tennis recorded several impressive wins at the Wake Forest Invitational and the South Carolina Invitational last weekend.
Hitting the courts for the first time this fall, the Demon Deacons accumulated a combined nine doubles victories and 16 singles victories over the two, three-day events.
Wake Forest's weekend performance was highlighted by No. 96 Filippo Moroni as the star senior defeated No. 13 Jefferey Von der Schulenburg of Virginia (6-4, 6-4) to win the singles A-draw at the South Carolina Invitational Sunday.
For the weekend, the Demon Deacons recorded a 9-8 ledger in doubles matches between the two events.

Wake Forest welcomes nine newcomers entering the Fall 2023 season, highlighted by Utah transfer Franco Capalbo and James Madison transfer Holden Koons. Additionally, the Demon Deacons return senior Filippo Moroni, senior Luciano Tacchi and graduate student Matthew Thomson.
ITA Preseason Rankings
In the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Preseason Rankings, Wake Forest had three singles players and two doubles pairs ranked.
