WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Deacs play their second regular season game on Saturday, Sept. 9 vs. Vanderbilt at 11:00 a.m. on ACC Network.

Since the start of the 2016 season, Wake Forest holds a record of 21-6 in September. This includes eight of nine seasons in the Dave Clawson era with multiple wins in the month, the most recent coming in 2022 when the Deacs went 3-1 with the lone loss coming in overtime to No. 5 Clemson. The Demon Deacons also have the best record vs. non-ACC teams over the past five year with a record of 14-2 (.875) with the next closest team holding a record of 13-4 in that timespan.

The last meeting between the two teams was a dominant, 45-25 Wake Forest victory in Nashville. The Deacs had 451 yards of total offense, including 300 in the air, while holding the Commodores to just 294. Vanderbilt holds a 10-7 record over Wake Forest, dating back to 1964 when the Demon Decons lost away, 6-9.

Overall, Coach Clawson is 3-0 against SEC opponents while at Wake Forest, including bowl wins over Texas A&M (Belk, 2017) and Missouri (Gasparilla, 2022). Wake Forest is currently tied for the second-longest active win streak against SEC teams, trailing just Stanford who has a six-game win streak.

With the overwhelming excitement for Demon Deacons football in the Winston-Salem and Triad communities, Wake Forest Athletics is excited to announce that Saturday's game is sold out! This marks Wake Forest's seventh sellout crowd since the 2021 season and the Deacs' home opener is sold out for the first time since 2011.

On August 31 as the result of the carriage dispute between Disney and Spectrum, ACC Network and all other ESPN channels went dark.

With these statements from the Walt Disney Company and Spectrum, respectively, we hope that this is resolved soon. Wake Forest Athletics encourages all those impacted Wake Forest fans to make sure Spectrum knows how important ACCN is to you by calling Spectrum's customer service (833-224-6603). In the meantime, you can assess these other provider options at https://keepmynetworks.com/.
