Deacs End Weekend Traveling to Miami

1/6/2024 5:09:00 PM | Women's Basketball

Wake Forest will look to extend their home winning streak to three in a row and claim their first ranked victory since the 2020-21 season.

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The Wake Forest women's basketball team is on the road for the first time in 2024 as they travel south to Coral Gables, Fla. for a Sunday afternoon tipoff against Miami.

The Demon Deacons (4-10, 0-2 ACC) will look to pick up their first win of conference play after narrow defeats to nationally-ranked Florida State and nationally-ranked Virginia Tech to start ACC season. Last season, Wake Forest split with Miami who ended up going on to the Elite Eight. It was one of two wins over Elite Eight teams last year as the Deacs also defeated Louisville. Wake Forest has navigated one of the most difficult schedules in the country, as the Deacs' average opponent NET now ranks 10th nationally.

The Hurricanes (10-3, 0-2 ACC) come into Sunday also looking for their first win of conference play after close losses in the first two games of conference play. The Canes are one of the most balanced scoring teams in the country as their 30.2 bench points per game ranks 15th nationally and first in the ACC. Miami's top seven scorers average between 10.8 points to 7.3 points per game. They also have been one of the most efficient teams shooting the basketball as their 46.5 shooting percentage is 32nd in the country. The Hurricanes have played their best at home this season, holding a 9-1 record with the lone loss coming against nationally-ranked Louisville last Sunday.

Tipoff for Sunday is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. (ET) at Watsco Center.
