The senior recorded the lowest 54-hole score in the 54-year tournament history

GREENVILLE, S.C.- Wake Forest senior Scotty Kennon claimed his second collegiate title at the 54th Furman Invitational Sunday with a score of 202 (-11), the lowest 54-hole score in the history of the tournament.

Kennon's win was highlighted by three under par rounds, including a low five-under 66 in round three, tallying six birdies and carding just one bogey. The Florida native led the 87 player field in birdies, carding 17 over three rounds.

Kennon put himself in position to make his move to the top of the leaderboard with birdies on his first two holes of the day. After hitting the turn at 2-under-par, Kennon held a one-shot lead. He built on it with three birdies on the back, claiming the three-shot victory.

This is the first win of his senior season and the second of his career with the other coming at the 2024 Calusa Cup when he set a new tournament record, shooting six-under par.

As a team, the Deacs end the Furman Intercollegiate in third place, with a final score of 833 (-19). This was the Deacs third top-five finish this fall season. Five Demon Deacons finished in the top-15, and Wake Forest led the tournament in birdies, carding a total of 57 over three rounds.

The Deacs shot the low round in the field in the last two rounds of the tournament including a tournament-best 10-under-par as a team on Sunday.

Playing as an individual, senior Collin Adams recorded a season best finish, holding a share of tenth place at three-under.

Back-to-back under par rounds on the first day aided Adam's tied for 11th finish. Adams also recorded back-to-back birdies in his final round, on the 12th and 13th holes, after starting his day with a birdie on the second hole.

Senior Marshall Meisel fired four birdies on a bogeyless front nine in round three, finishing three-under and tied for tenth place. This is Meisel's second top-10 finish this season.

Sophomores Kyle Haas and Tom Haberer both picked up another top-15  finish this season. Haas posted a final round of 70 (-1) to finish tied for 13th, while Haberer carded a 2-under 69 Sunday to finish one-under 212 for the tournament and finish tied for 15th.

Junior Jakob Melin shot his best round in round three. Melin was three-under before the turn, and ended his final round with a one-under 70 tying for 23rd place.

Freshman Jorge Hao, who played as an individual, finished tied for 23rd at one-over par (70, 69, 75).

From Coach Haas:

"Scotty Kennon's short game paid off today and capped it off with a beautiful birdie at the last hole to shoot 66. It's always nice to shoot 66 and win a tournament. We threw out a 70 (-1) today, so we shot ten-under and had the low round of the day again today. I played here in 1985 and haven't been back since, Furman did a great job hosting, it's a really nice place. It's a good way to end the fall season, and there's a lot we can work on and get better at. We had some good individual play from Collin Adams and Jorge Hao. Marshall has had a great last two weeks, this team is pretty deep. Go Deacs!"

Next Up:
