The honor marks back-to-back years on the All-Region team for Schoenbeck, while Montag is one of just two freshmen named to the All-South Second Team this season.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Sophomore Mia Schoenbeck and freshman Mia Montag for Wake Forest field hockey were named to the 2024 NFHCA Division I All-South Region teams, as announced on Wednesday by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.

"Excited to see these two women represented on this team," head coach Jen Averill said. "It's a reflection of their consistency and proven ability throughout this past season. Both are hardworking, competitive young women who do their best to lead their team."

Selected as First-Team All-South Region, Schoenbeck was one of three Demon Deacons to start every match this season and recorded three goals and two assists in her second season in the Old Gold & Black on her way to earning Second Team All-ACC honors.

The sophomore got on the ledger in the Deacs second match of the year, playing a beautiful aerial into fellow second-year Faye Janse, who knocked down the pass and fired a shot into the left side of the cage to put Wake Forest up against Michigan.

Schoenbeck opened the scoring for Wake Forest off a Demon Deacon penalty corner against VCU and added her second assist of the year against Kent State.

The Louisville, Kentucky native recorded the first brace of her career in Wake's 6-0 victory over Davidson earlier this year, as she scored a pair of fourth-quarter goals to cap the win for the Demon Deacon.

In 2023, Schoenbeck was one of just two freshmen named to the NFHCA South All-Region Second team.

A member of the Second-Team All-South Region, Montag was one of 10 ACC student-athletes with six or more assists during the regular season and started in all 18 matches in her first season.

She led Wake Forest with a .692 shot-on-goal percentage and finished third on the squad with 10 points. Montag had a knack for finding her teammates late in the year with five assists in the last 10 matches for the Deacs.

The Berlin, Germany native scored in back-to-back matches at App State and against VCU and had a pair of assists in the victory over Kent State.
