MELBOURNE, Fla. - The top-ranked Wake Forest women's golf team continues their spring season this weekend at the Moon Golf Invitational, hosted by Louisville, at the Suntree Country Club in Melbourne, Florida.
The Moon Golf Invitational is in its seventh installment, with past champions such as LSU, South Carolina and Florida State most recently. The 2024 field boasts 12 of the top 25 teams in the country right now.
The event originally consisted of three rounds of stroke play over three days, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Due to inclement weather in the area, the first nine holes of the first round will now begin Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. Weather permitting, the second nine holes will be played Sunday, with Monday and Tuesday's second and third rounds proceeding as scheduled.
Wake Forest will be paired with Louisville, LSU and Auburn for the first nine holes Saturday afternoon. Live scoring is available every day of play via Golfstat.
Last Time Out
Wake is coming off a fourth-place finish and 2-1 match play record at the Therese Hession Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes, cAlifornia two weeks ago. Due to inclement weather in the area, the event switched last minute from the traditional stroke play to match play in an effort to get more rounds in, but there was no reprieve from the weather and the event was called as it stood after the second day of play.
Wake Forest defeated Georgetown, 5-0, and San Jose State, 3.5-1.5 before falling to South Carolina 4-1 in what would end up being the final round.

- Suntree Country Club's Classic Course was one of the first official tour stops for the Senior PGA Tour players through the eighties and the early nineties. Fairways, roughs and greens were renovated in 2015 with Celebration, and greens with Champion Bermuda. Although its ample fairways and generous greens provide inviting targets, the Classic golfer must also negotiate numerous bunkers, tree-lined fairways, and waterways throughout the course to achieve success.
