No. 4 Wake Forest Primed for Trio of Home Matches

The Demon Deacons will face No. 19 Baylor on Saturday at 2 p.m.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Currently boasting a four-match winning streak, the No. 4-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team will host No. 19 Baylor, VCU and Campbell this weekend at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex.
Saturday, first serve between the Demon Deacons and the 19th-ranked Baylor Bears is slated for 2 p.m., while Sunday's matches against VCU and Campbell will begin at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., respectively.

Last Time Out (Clemson/NCAT)
The No. 4-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team remained unbeaten at home after earning a pair of victories over ACC foe Clemson and North Carolina A&T Sunday evening at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex.
Despite battling adverse weather conditions, the Demon Deacons recorded their 14th-consecutive win over Clemson behind singles wins from graduate students Matthew Thomson and Holden Koons, along with senior Luciano Tacchi.
The Deacs then extended their winning streak to four, sweeping North Carolina A&T in the second leg of Sunday's double-header. With the victory, Wake Forest remained undefeated against the Aggies all-time. Additionally, the win improved the Deacs to an impressive 20-4 against schools in the state of North Carolina since the start of the 2022 campaign.
Individually, the Demon Deacons were led by Thomson as he went a perfect 2-0 in singles action on the day. In addition to clinching the match over North Carolina A&T, Thomson and partner Filippo Moroni clinched the doubles point for Wake Forest against Clemson.
The top-ranked doubles pairing nationally (DK Suresh Ekambaram and Holden Koons) improved to a perfect 12-0 this season with an impressive 6-2 win in the top slot against the Tigers.
Since the beginning of ACC play, Wake Forest has gone a combined 8-1 in dual doubles matches, while collecting the point in each of their four contests.
In the win over North Carolina A&T, graduate student Jamieson Nathan and sophomore Saud Alhogbani recorded their first dual singles victories of the 2024 season. Of note, Nathan's win marked the first of his Wake Forest career.

In the latest ITA Rankings, Wake Forest was ranked fourth nationally. Additionally, the Demon Deacons have four singles players and one doubles pair currently ranked.

The Matchup - No. 19 Baylor
No. 19 Baylor has opened the 2024 season with a 15-4 record. The Bears have recorded wins over then-No.5 USC and San Diego. Recently, Baylor dropped a competitive battle to No. 2 TCU, 4-2.
Ranked Bears
Saturday will mark the seventh all-time meeting between the Demon Deacons and the Bears as the Deacs own a 3-3 record. Last season, Wake Forest defeated Baylor, 4-0.
The Matchup - No. 43 VCU
VCU enters Sunday's match with a 7-7 mark. The Rams have tallied wins over then-No. 12 Mississippi State and Miami. VCU is led by No. 41-ranked Mathis Bondaz and No. 70 Matisse Bobichon.
Ranked Rams
Wake Forest is on a 4-match winning streak against VCU, dating back to 2014; however, the Rams lead the all-time series, 17-11.
The Matchup - Campbell
Campbell is off to a 6-5 start to the 2024 campaign, including wins over Longwood and The Citadel. The Camels have faced two nationally-ranked opponents this season. Individually, Campbell has been led by junior Damien Nezar.
The Demon Deacons will look to extend their two-match winning streak against the Camels. Of note, the Deacs have outscored Campbell 13-1 over the past two meetings.

The Deacs will resume conference play next weekend, traveling to face Louisville (Friday, March 22) and Notre Dame (Sunday, March 24).
