Wake Forest will now hit the road for a pair of ACC matches next weekend.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The No. 31-ranked Wake Forest women's tennis team fell to No. 6 North Carolina, 4-0, at Wake Forest Tennis Center Sunday.
The Demon Deacons (13-8, 4-3 ACC) dropped the doubles point as the Tar Heels (14-3, 7-1 ACC) took courts two and three. The No. 79-ranked pairing of senior Brooke Killingsworth and graduate student Marcella Cruz saw their match so unfinished (4-5).
North Carolina clinched the victory with singles wins on courts three, five and six. Senior Casie Wooten was just two games away from earning a win over No. 22 Fiona Crawley in first singles before the Tar Heels clinched. Killingsworth and freshman Sankavi Gownder also had their matches abandoned on courts two and four.
The Demon Deacons will look to bounce back on the road next weekend against Virginia Tech and Virginia on Thursday and Saturday, respectively.

"Tough couple of matches this weekend against two very good teams in Duke and North Carolina. We played pretty darn well today and put ourselves in good positions through the first sets but credit to them. They responded and we couldn't get the first sets we needed after dropping the doubles point. I guess that's not a surprise when you are playing last year's national champs and they brought everyone back from that squad. I think we are in position to be playing our great tennis in the final weeks of the regular season. We'll see on Thursday at Virginia Tech"
